Cedar Rapids city staff expressed enthusiasm if high-end retailer West Elm were to take over the building lease for the soon-to-close Save-a-Lot grocery store at 1625 J Street SW.
“That would be so super cool,” said Planning Intern Missy Abingdon, who was on hold with West End customer service, hoping to talk to someone about the space. “They have such great merch.”
Abingdon said West Elm would be the dream, but Restoration Hardware would be cool, too. “Worst case, I guess we would take a Pottery Barn.” Abingdon said.
At press time, Abingdon was trying to ignore repeated voice mails from Brandon at Grand Slam Discount Fireworks and Pyro Tech-nix.
